Posting Bonds & Bond Management

Once ordered bonds have been recorded on the case, the posted bond should be recorded as soon as possible.

If your county uses only registered bond carriers, be sure to use your county's business process for checking the bond carrier before posting the bond in GTS. GTS displays all carriers from the Pennsylvania Insurance Department and does not limit the bond carriers that can be used in individual counties.

Recording a Posted Bond

To record a posted bond, perform the following:

1. 

Under Find a Case on your Dashboard, enter the case number and press ENTER. Optionally, if the case number is not readily available, click the Advanced Search link to locate the case. The GTS Case screen opens.

2. 

Click the Bond Ordered tab.

3. 

Click the Add Post Bonds icon Add Post Bonds icon.

4. 

In the Add/Edit Post Bonds screen, click on the Carrier Type dropdown and complete one of the following:

a. 

If the bond carrier is In State, select that option and continue to Step 5.

b. 

If the bond carrier is Out of State, select that option and proceed to Step 8.

5. 

Click in the Search Carrier field and enter the name of the bond carrier.

6. 

Click the SEARCH button.

7. 

Select the radio button that appears to the left of the appropriate bond carrier. Proceed to Step 9.

8. 

Click in the Carrier Name field and enter the name of the bond carrier.

9. 

For the Bond No. field, enter the unique number associated with the bond.

10. 

Enter the Bond Amount that was obtained.

11. 

Enter the bond's Effective Date.

12. 

Enter the bond's Expiration Date.

13. 

Click the SAVE button to return to the GTS Case screen.

 

 

Editing a Posted Bond

Posted bonds can be edited to update the information as needed. Bond carriers cannot be modified once a posted bond has been saved to the case in GTS. If the bond carrier was recorded incorrectly, remove the bond post record and create the record again.

1. 

Under Find a Case on your Dashboard, enter the case number and press ENTER. Optionally, if the case number is not readily available, click the Advanced Search link to locate the case. The GTS Case screen opens.

2. 

Click the Bond Ordered tab.

3. 

Locate the bond that needs to be modified, and click the Edit Posted Bond icon Edit Posted Bond icon. The Add/Edit Bond popup displays.

4. 

Make modifications to the posted bond information as needed.

5. 

Click the SAVE button to return to the GTS Case screen.

 

 

Deleting a Posted Bond

Posted bonds can be deleted if added in error:

1. 

Under Find a Case on your Dashboard, enter the case number and press ENTER. Optionally, if the case number is not readily available, click the Advanced Search link to locate the case. The GTS Case screen opens.

2. 

Click on the Bond Ordered tab.

3. 

Locate the bond that needs to be removed and click the Delete icon Delete icon in the grid.

4. 

On the confirmation message that displays, click the OK button. The posted bond record is removed.

5. 

Click the OK button (if applicable) on the second confirmation that displays which says the posted bond has been removed.
