Trainings and Certifications for Guardians
Both the Report of the Guardian of the Estate and the Report of the Guardian of the Person ask the guardian to submit information regarding any trainings and certifications they have received or are active during the reporting period. In GTS, trainings and certifications can be recorded as part of a person's participant record. When this occurs, the active certifications and trainings that were completed during the report year populate automatically when completing the reports in GTS. Entering this information as part of the participant's record can save time when entering a report for the guardian.
Adding Certifications
To add a certification for a guardian:

Under General Actions on the Dashboard, click the Manage People and Organizations link. The Participant Search screen opens. |

Click on the Search By dropdown and select Person. |
||||
3. |
Enter the participant's Last Name and First Name. Additionally, you can limit the search to existing guardians or Pennsylvania bar attorneys by selecting the Guardians Only and/or Attorneys Only checkbox. |

4. |
(Optional) Additional search criteria can be entered to limit the number of records that can be returned in a search. |

5. |
Click the SEARCH button. |

6. |
Review the search results and perform one of the following:

In the Guardian Details tab, click the Add Certification Record icon |

8. |
Click the Certification Type / Provider Name dropdown and select the certification that was obtained. |

9. |
Enter the Effective Date of the certification. |
||||
10. |
Enter the Expiration Date of the certification. |
||||
11. |
Click the Save icon |

12. |
Once you have finished all changes on the Edit Person/Organization screen, you may return to your Dashboard. |
Adding Trainings
To add training for a guardian:

Under General Actions on the Dashboard, click the Manage People and Organizations link. The Participant Search screen opens. |

Click on the Search By dropdown and select Person. |
||||
3. |
Enter the participant's Last Name and First Name. Additionally, you can limit the search to existing guardians or Pennsylvania bar attorneys by selecting the Guardians Only and/or Attorneys Only checkbox. |

4. |
(Optional) Additional search criteria can be entered to limit the number of records that can be returned in a search. |

5. |
Click the SEARCH button. |

6. |
Review the search results and perform one of the following:

In the Guardian Details tab, click the Add Training Record icon |

8. |
Click in the Course Name field and enter the name of the training course that the guardian attended. |

9. |
Click in the Provider Name field and enter the name of the individual, organization, or institution that offered the training. |

10. |
Enter the Start Date of the training. |
||||
11. |
(Optional) Enter the End Date of the training. A future date can be entered if the training is ongoing or the same date can be entered as the Start Date if the training was limited to a single day. |

12. |
Click the Save icon |

13. |
Once you have finished all changes on the Edit Person/Organization screen, you may return to your Dashboard. |
Editing Certification Details
Certification details can be managed by adding or updating details as needed. However, use this function to correct or amend any details but not to extend an expiration date when a guardian becomes recertified. Record a new certification when a guardian is recertified.
To edit a certification:

Under General Actions on the Dashboard, click the Manage People and Organizations link. The Participant Search screen opens. |

Click on the Search By dropdown and select Person. |
||||
3. |
Enter the participant's Last Name and First Name. Additionally, you can limit the search to existing guardians or Pennsylvania bar attorneys by selecting the Guardians Only and/or Attorneys Only checkbox. |

4. |
(Optional) Additional search criteria can be entered to limit the number of records that can be returned in a search. |

5. |
Click the SEARCH button. |

6. |
Review the search results and perform one of the following:

In the Guardian Details tab, locate the certification in the Certifications grid that needs to be corrected or amended and make the necessary changes in the grid. |

Click the Save icon |

9. |
Once you have finished all changes on the Edit Person/Organization screen, you may eturn to your Dashboard. |
Editing Training Details
Training course details can be managed by adding or updating details as needed. For example, you may want to add a training end date if it was not previously known.
To edit a training:

Under General Actions on the Dashboard, click the Manage People and Organizations link. The Participant Search screen opens. |

Click on the Search By dropdown and select Person. |
||||
3. |
Enter the participant's Last Name and First Name. Additionally, you can limit the search to existing guardians or Pennsylvania bar attorneys by selecting the Guardians Only and/or Attorneys Only checkbox. |

(Optional) Additional search criteria can be entered to limit the number of records that can be returned in a search. |

Click the SEARCH button. |

Review the search results and perform one of the following:

In the Guardian Details tab, locate the training in the Training Courses grid that needs to be changed and make the necessary changes in the grid. |

Click the Save icon |

Once you have finished all changes on the Edit Person/Organization screen, you may return to your Dashboard. |
Removing a Certification or Training Course
Certifications or training courses for a guardian should only be removed if they were added in error. They should not be removed if they are no longer active; they should be maintained in order to provide a history for the guardian of their certifications and trainings.
To remove a certification or training:

Under General Actions on the Dashboard, click the Manage People and Organizations link. The Participant Search screen opens. |

Click on the Search By dropdown and select Person. |

3. |
Enter the participant's Last Name and First Name. Additionally, you can limit the search to existing guardians or Pennsylvania bar attorneys by selecting the Guardians Only and/or Attorneys Only checkbox. |

Click the SEARCH button. |

6. |
Review the search results and perform one of the following:

In the Guardian Details tab, find the certification or training that needs to be removed in the appropriate grid and click the Delete icon |

8. |
Click OK on the confirmation messages. |

9. |
The certification or training course is removed. Once you have finished all changes on the Edit Person/Organization screen, you may return to your Dashboard. |
